have faith in democracy
in the virtual chocolate milkshake that has been this last month and a half, i've had over one emails enquiring about my internet whereabouts. perhaps i had taken some kind of water-based sabbatical, battling luminescent underwater sea monsters in my diamante submarine? mayhap as a result of flitting between my computer, my playstation, my psp and catching up on episodes of lost i had become a digital representation of myself; a being of pure energy able to travel through cyberspace, eating your sextracker cookies.

unfortunately none of these stories are true; i'm still helping my good friend mark build his recording studio. i've still had plenty of time for my fat-kid overindulgence in film, however, and boy have i been stuffing my guts lately.

a particularly delicious morsel arrived in the post yesterday in the form of the first episode of deadbeat, sort-of-like-a-sitcom-but-it-isn't-really from circusfilms (and of course, the obligatory myspace link). considering that it's an episodic comedy by a teeny-tiny independent company, i'll have to be honest - i wasn't expecting a whole lot. i certainly wasn't expecting to laugh out loud; maybe the occasional single-huff laugh. you know, the kind your dad would do while your mum was watching desperate housewives and he didn't want to find something funny but he did and was trying not to laugh. you know. what was i talking about?

oh yes, deadbeat. well, it is funny. very, very funny, and bittersweet at the same time. i now want to gobble up the other five episodes all at once, the way i did when i first saw spaced. go and watch the trailer, then order yourself a copy for the paltry sum of five electronic pounds. thou shalt not regret it.
